SCIENCE
Grade level specific science challenges can be included in puzzle and riddle solving for the adventurers.
MATHEMATICS
To get through this door, you need to solve these grade specific mathematics problems. And don't forget - show your work!
ENGINEERING
This STEM skill can be the most fun one to interject into a game. The students may need to build something with Lego's or not bring down a whole building while tunneling underneath. So many opportunities.
COMMUNICATION
Learning how to communicate clearly and effectively is an important skill in live and in gaming. Role playing games give ample opportunity for practicing effective communication.
CRITICAL THINKING
The Dragon Slayers Academy is full of choices and consequences for those choices. Putting students in situations where they must make choices, both for themselves and their party, will help reinforce critical thinking.
INSIGHT
Understanding others and their motivations is a valuable skill to have. It allows you to build bridges and make informed decisions. This can be reinforced while playing in the Academy storyline.
BEING A GOOD COACH
It is important to be a good coach, regardless of your age. Students will play with others and have to teach them. Students will need to support others when they make mistakes. This is an often overlooked skill
EMPATHY AND SUPPORT
Empathy. Having empathy for others is one of the most important skills a student can have. We try and put students into situations where they must feel for other students or even the enemy. Understanding their motivation can lead to unexpected results!
CONNECTING THE DOTS
Being able to connect the dots between scenarios and complicated subjects is a skill that will serve students for life. Completing some of the lessons at the academy require connecting the dots between them.
